JESSE PERKINS (8th Grade)
MAKES IT TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT

On Monday May 19^th 2008, three North Babylon golfers represented the team at the Suffolk County Conference Tournament at Indian Island Golf Course. Jesse Perkins, Stan Daszykowski and Sean Heimerle were North Babylon’s top three golfers this year and received the opportunity to compete as an individual at this year’s tournament. All three golfers played excellent with scores as follows; Jesse Perkins – 75, Stan Daszykowski – 82 and Sean Heimerle – 92. This years cut to return for the County Tournament was 81. Eighth grader Jesse Perkins’ score of 75 qualified him for the County Tournament placing tied for third. This was the first time in 5 years that a North Babylon golfer made the cut for the County Tournament.

On Tuesday May 20^th 2008 Jesse shot a 77 at the Suffolk County Tournament for a two day tournament total of 152. With this score Jesse placed tied for third and qualified for the New York State Public High School Tournament which will be held at Cornell University on June 1^st and 2^nd. Jesse is the second golfer from North Babylon to ever qualify for the State Tournament.

Jesse posted a 12 – 2 match record this year playing in the number one spot in every match. His career record now stands at 21 – 5 – 1 all matches played in the number one spot. Jesse received All League honors for the second year with a 37.392 match scoring average which was the best in the league. On behalf of the entire North Babylon Community we wish Jesse the best of luck this weekend at the State Tournament!!!

Whether we win or lose, without excuses and acknowledge the better team in a given contest, we've place winning and losing in their proper perspective. Remember to act in a proper manner when you attend a high school/middle school event. Good sportsmanship is a goal to strive for at all times in athletics, and in our daily lives as well.
