· 1” binder - used ONLY for health - all notes, handouts, returned tests and quizzes must be kept in chronological order · paper · pen or pencil · highlighter (suggested 2) · reinforcements (suggested) · covered text book “Teen Health”
· Homework - 20 homework assignments (5 points each) per quarter added up equal 100 points. · Group Presentations - Each quarter students will participate in 3 group presentations worth 100 points each. The students will be given specific instructions at that time. · Quizzes - 4 quizzes (25 points each) per quarter added up equal 100 points. · Unit Test - At the end of each unit there will be a unit test worth 100 points. · Binder check - Graded at the end of each quarter worth 100 points. Work should be kept in chronological order and neatly organized. Important facts should be highlighted. · Health report - Every student is required to do a health report. This will count as 3 grades during the 2nd quarter of the course. - Students will do the following for his/her report: - Written report - Oral report - Visual Report *Students will have a minimum of 7 weeks to work on his/her report. Failure to submit the report by the specified due date will result in a 10-point deduction weekly. Oral reports will be assigned according to a random drawing. · Extra credit - Any student that would like to do extra credit can do so by summarizing an article from Tuesday’s Health & Discovery section in Newsday. Students must write a one-page essay and attach the article. · A cumulative final exam will be given at the end of the course.
