Holiday Message:

December 2023

North Babylon  School District Students, Families, and Staff

It is hard to believe how September seems like it was just yesterday, yet here we are at the Holiday recess.  The 23-24 school year has been filled with so many special events and accomplishments on the part of our students and staff, and I am excited for everything that we have store for the second half of the year.  I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for welcoming me into the North Babylon School District family.  I have felt the strong sense of Bulldog pride, community, and support that exists throughout our district, and I consider myself very fortunate to be a part of it.

On behalf of the Board of Education and the district administration, I would like to wish you all a very happy and safe holiday season as well as a very peaceful New Year.  We hope that the holiday break affords you with the time to rest , recharge, and to enjoy family and friends.  Don't forget the break is also a  perfect time to take a few minutes and learn more about the district.   In addition to the information here on our website, you can follow us on our social media feeds and download the district app (Android or iOS).

NB "All In" Superintendent Spotlight

Throughout the 2023-2024 school year continue to highlight a number of students who go above and beyond for the school and greater community, students who are "All In." This month, Dr. Klomp and the high school team recognize Brian Umana Fuentes for being “All In.”

Brian is currently taking eight Advanced Placement classes and maintains a high GPA and is consistently on Honor Roll. He is interested in studying computer hardware engineering in college next year.

Brian is currently the president of Students for a Better World, a position he has held for two years. In this role, he has streamlined the club's attendance procedures and has worked tirelessly to help keep the club organized. He is also the Secretary of the Science Honor Society. Brian is a natural leader and has a passion for helping others.

He volunteers and is involved in the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Additionally, he spends time making cards for nursing homes, handing out medals at the Suffolk County Marathon, helps with Lions Club events, and is also involved in the sock drive for the homeless shelter.

Brian is also involved in the school theater productions, where he works on the technical stage crew and is a leader and a technical expert. Outside of school, Brian volunteers at his church on the weekends. For example, he does audio systems for his church and travels to various events. Lastly, he is entrepreneurial and has formed a company with friends, called Endure Forever, which is a Christian clothing brand.

Brian is an excellent example of an "All In" student. He is a kind and compassionate young man who is always willing to lend a helping hand. He is a leader, a volunteer, and a scholar. Brian Umana Fuentes is "All In" for our school and community.

As a part of the final phase of bond work, the high school and middle school library renovations are nearing completion. Fine & Performing Arts Updates

We extend a special thank you to our music students and teachers for their wonderful performances and holiday cheer.   The middle school and high school performing groups were  an amazing holiday treat!  (RMMS kickline and flag team below)

Earlier this week we learned that the North Babylon School District will have 51 students representing us in the SCMEA All County Festivals in grades 5-10.  Every building is represented and we have students in every performing group. The accomplishments of our students stems from your support of our student musicians, the drive of our dedicated teaching staff and the collective commitment to providing quality musical experiences to the community.

Students and staff are excited to be working in the new TV studio. Club members as well as students in our film class are working in the studio to learn the state of the art equipment and to even begin producing videos.

Click on the Lights, Camera, Action link to learn more about the TV Studio and to watch our first ever production!!
