English courses in North Babylon are designed to develop the reading, writing, listening, speaking, and critical thinking skills of all students in order to prepare for success in life. Our courses enable every student to build skills in English language usage and to appreciate and analyze texts of all different types. All courses are developed within the guidelines of the New York State Education Department’s Next Generation Learning Standards for English Language Arts. Our English elective courses offer students opportunities to explore various types of literature, writing, and media to integrate all areas of language arts study. All students are required to pass the New York State Regents in English Language Arts in Grade 11.
