Position begins on July 1, 2026

The Elementary School Principal is the instructional and operational leader of the school and is responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment. The principal provides leadership to staff, supports high-quality teaching and learning, promotes equity, and builds strong partnerships with families and the community in a diverse suburban school district.

Characteristics and leadership attributes of a successful candidate:

Instructional Leadership

  • Lead and support the implementation of district curriculum, instructional practices, and assessments aligned with state standards.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and support instructional staff to promote continuous improvement and student achievement.
  • Use student data to guide instructional decisions, interventions, and enrichment.
  • Ensure appropriate support for all learners, including students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and advanced learners.


School Culture

  • Foster an inclusive, respectful, and culturally responsive school environment.
  • Promote equitable access to academic programs, resources, and opportunities.
  • Support social-emotional learning and positive behavior practices.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive school climate.


Staff Leadership and Professional Growth

  • Recruit, hire,  develop, and retain high-quality staff in collaboration with district administration.
  • Build collaborative teams and support professional learning communities.
  • Establish clear expectations and provide constructive feedback to staff.


Student Support 

  • Implement fair, developmentally appropriate student discipline practices aligned with district policy.
  • Collaborate with social workers, psychologists, and support staff to address student needs.


Family and Community Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with families and community partners.
  • Communicate effectively and transparently with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Encourage family involvement in school programs and activities.


Operations and Management

  • Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, supervision, and building management.
  • Manage the school budget and resources in alignment with district priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and district policies.
  • Collaborate with district departments to support school operations and safety.


Communication and Collaboration

  • Serve as a visible and accessible school leader.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, families, and district leadership.
  • Collaborate with district administrators and fellow principals on district initiatives.


Candidates must:

  • Hold valid state certification as a School Principal or School Administrator.
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience; administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience in a diverse school setting.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and school climate.
  • Knowledge of MTSS, SEL, and culturally responsive practices.


Work Year and Compensation

  • Twelve-month administrative position
  • Salary and benefits commensurate in accordance with NBAA contract
