March 2024
North Babylon School District Students, Families, and Staff
I am writing to you with a few important reminders:
Due to the snow day taken on February 13, 2024, the district will be open and all schools will be in session on Tuesday, May 28th. For more information on the 2023-2024 school calendar please visit the calendar link from the district homepage.
On Monday April 8, 2024 a total solar eclipse will occur in the afternoon. The eclipse will be visible from roughly 2:15pm-4:35pm with the maximum coverage of the sun taking place at approximately 3:25pm. The skies across Long Island will slightly darken between 3:15pm and 3:30pm.
During an eclipse, it is not safe to look directly at the sun without specialized eye protection. We will have eclipse viewing glasses for all students at each school, and our teachers will discuss the eclipse in the days leading up to it. Afterschool activities will take place as normally scheduled with modifications being made as necessary, and all schools will dismiss at the normal dismissal times.

As always, I invite you all to continue to seek out information about us on our website as well as by following our social media feeds and the district app (Android or iOS).
Warmly,
Ken
Natalie Giammarinaro is currently a 5th grade student at Woods Road Elementary School. She has been part of the fabric of Woods Road since she was in kindergarten.
As President of Student Council, Natalie strives to make Woods Road a welcoming environment for all students. This year, Natalie became the Ambassador for P.S. I Love You Day. She worked with a team of students to find fun ways to spread kindness throughout the school during Kindness Week.
Natalie is a valuable representative of the Woods Road community. She has been a member of Student Council since 3rd grade where she visited the Spangle Drive Senior Center to sing to seniors and spread joy for the holidays. Her ideas have made many memorable spirit weeks coupled with lots of fun activities at Woods Road. Natalie participated in the STEAM Club as well as the Clay Club and she is currently a contributor to our Out of the Woods school newspaper as a participant of the Newspaper Club. She is also a member of our newly installed Math Marvels Club. Natalie began playing the clarinet in the 4th grade and recently earned her way to the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association festival.
Natalie is not afraid to take risks and is an exemplary member of our Woods Road student body!
The next Superintendent Meet and Greet will take place on Wednesday April 3rd from 5:30-6:30pm at Belmont Elementary.
Stop by to discuss all things NB!
