​​Returning to school is always a very exciting time.  New school clothes, new school supplies, and reconnecting with friends and school staff are all a part of the start of the school year.  Hopefully you have all felt this excitement and enthusiasm in the first days of school.  

This is the first edition of the Bulldog Bulletin for this year.  Below you will find information on our bond proposal, safety and security updates as well as a celebration of some early recognitions for some of our students.      

I also invite you to follow us on our social media sites if you don't already.  We are constantly posting content to Facebook and Instagram to help you get a glimpse into the great things happening in our district (links below).

At the September 17 Board of Education meeting, there was a presentation about a bond proposal for that is being considered for a vote in early 2027.  

This bond will include infrastructure improvements that are critical to the operations of our school district including roof replacements, construction of a transportation facility, an administration building, districtwide electrical upgrades, a new baseball/softball facility, univent replacements at Brennan, and little theatre upgrades at the high school.

We will continue to share information about the bond with the community in the coming weeks through our social media feeds, additional presentations, and through calls and visits.

Please take a moment to review the updates below on E-Bikes and E-Scooters.  I have included a legal update on them from the Suffolk County Police Department as well as an update on the rules within the Town of Babylon for E-Bikes and E-Scooters.  

While we understand that these may be a convenient and fun way to get around, they are also inherently dangerous. We have hear many stories of people of all ages being involved in accidents with E-bikes, including some of our North Babylon students. 

Per New York State law, riders must be at least 16 years old to legally operate any E-Bike or E-Scooter anywhere in the state. As a result, E-Bikes or E-Scooters are prohibited at all North Babylon campuses except the high school for those students who are old enough.  Additionally, all E-bike operators in Suffolk County must wear a helmet. E-bikes are prohibited on sidewalks and on any road with a speed limit above 30 miles per hour.

If you plan to allow your child to use an E-Bike, please take a moment to review both New York State and Suffolk County laws, as well as basic safety precautions.  If your child plans to travel to school via E-Bike or E-Scooter, please know they may not be driven on school grounds and must be walked from the entrance of the school property to the appropriate parking place.

The safety of our students is our priority and we look forward to your cooperation on this matter.

At the September 17, 2026 Board of Education meeting, the board adopted Policy 5149 as required by NYS Ed-Law 3201-b.  This law ensures that all students will have uninterrupted access to public education regardless of immigration status.

At this time of year our students are walking to bus stops or to school without their parents.  We ask that you take an opportunity to reinforce personal safety lessons with your child(ren). 

Please remind children that:

Children should also report strange activity while on our roads to a trusted adult as soon as possible so that they can be reported and investigated.

As a district we are pleased to collaborate with the North Babylon Public Library.  Below you find resources from them about several of their programs including free online tutoring, free museum passes, Tumble Book Library, and Tumble Math.

This summer new legislation was put into place throughout New York State to provide information to parents and families about water safety.  The hope is to provide information regarding drowning prevention, water safety, and safe and healthy swimming to all parents/guardians of students.
