North Babylon Welcomes Cheryl Lippert as Special Education Instructional Leader

The North Babylon School District is pleased to welcome Cheryl Lippert as its new Special Education Instructional Leader.

Lippert brings more than two decades of special education experience to the position. She began her career in 2003 as a New York City Teaching Fellow in District 75, which provides specialized educational support to students with significant needs. In 2010, she joined the Mineola School District as a special education teacher and remained there until she pursued a career in special education administration.

During her time in Mineola, Lippert served as a teacher leader for the district’s RISE Special Education Program, which supports students participating in the New York State Alternate Assessment. In that role, she worked collaboratively to raise expectations and create visible educational pathways centered on measurable, individualized progress.

Lippert first joined the North Babylon community in the summer of 2025, serving as assistant administrator of the district’s Extended School Year program. The relationships she developed with students and staff inspired her to continue her career in North Babylon.

“Ms. Lippert brings extensive experience, compassion and a deeply personal understanding of the importance of building strong partnerships with students and families,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Graham said. “Her commitment to inclusive practices and individualized student success will make her an outstanding resource for our school community. We are delighted to welcome her to the North Babylon team.”

As a parent who has personally navigated the Committee on Preschool Special Education and Committee on Special Education processes, Lippert understands how important it is for families to feel heard, supported and confident in their child’s educational team. Those experiences helped inspire her decision to pursue school leadership and strengthened her commitment to advocating for neurodiverse learners.

In her new role, Lippert hopes to build positive relationships with families from the beginning of the CPSE and CSE processes while fostering collaborative teams that place students’ individual needs first. She is committed to helping make North Babylon an inclusive community where every student has access to the support and resources needed to reach their full potential.

Lippert earned her bachelor’s degree from Hartwick College in 2001 and a Master of Science in Education in special and general education from Queens College in 2006. She completed the School District Administration Certificate Program at Molloy University in 2024.
