PARP Kicks Off at Woods Road

Woods Road Elementary School launched its Pick A Reading Partner initiative this week by kicking off the event with fun and games on March 17. This year’s theme was “Woods-opoly,” and Mr. Monopoly even joined the assembly to share his love of literacy with the school. Each day throughout the week, Woods Road held themed/spirit days to connect to the game theme. Students were challenged to read a certain number of minutes throughout the week. Students engaged in different games, both individually and as a class, for a chance to win Monopoly money. They could cash in the Monopoly money for different prizes/books. Students also could dress as their favorite character, design their own book cover and attend a family story time during the week.
