North Babylon’s music program continues to demonstrate excellence, with students across the district earning top honors at this year’s New York State School Music Association’s Majors Festivals.
At Robert Moses Middle School, students from every grade level showcased their hard work and musical growth. The sixth-grade band performed a Level 1 program and earned a Gold Medal, marking the second gold medal in the history of the sixth-grade program. The seventh-grade band impressed adjudicators with a Silver Medal on a Level 2 program, demonstrating strong musicianship. The eighth-grade chorus earned a Silver Medal on their Level 3 program at the Middle Country School District festival, while the eighth-grade band received a Silver Rating on a level 3 performance at the West Islip festival — an especially notable accomplishment as it was their first-ever appearance at NYSSMA Majors.
At North Babylon High School, students continued the tradition of excellence. The high school concert band earned a Silver Medal for their Level 3 program, an impressive debut for both the students and the program in their first appearance at the Majors Festival. The symphonic band performed at an advanced Level 5, the first level 5 performance in 10 years, and earned a Silver Medal, reflecting their high level of skill and dedication. The concert orchestra at NBHS earned a Gold medal for their debut level 3 performance.
Lastly, the NBHS symphony orchestra earned a Gold Rating on their Level 5 program, marking the second gold medal of the year for the high school orchestra program.
Congratulations to all our student performers and dedicated educators for their talent, and outstanding achievements.
