Students at Parliament Place Elementary School are closing out the school year with some engaging, hands-on academic lessons.
Third graders in Ms. Krystek’s class recently completed their animal research projects. With the classroom transformed into an underwater habitat, the students rotated through different stations, sharing their research on specific animals with their classmates and facts such as adaptation, food chain and habitat.
In Ms. Nemeti’s class, third graders became math surgeons for the day as they reviewed for “area surgery.” Dressed in their scrubs, the students had to find different shapes that matched their “patient.” They cut different rectangles and found the area of the squares by adding them together.
Lastly, Ms. Morales’ class held a science symposium and invited second graders in Ms. Estevez’s class to listen to their research on the planets, sun and solar system.
