Third graders at Belmont Elementary School have been working with library media specialist Jennifer Olsen to learn about coding using their Dash robots.
Students have been working on the virtual coding of the robots using the Wonder Workshop program on their Chromebooks. To bring their online programming skills from the virtual world to real life, they participated in a Dash soccer tournament on Jan. 24. Working in small groups, third graders were challenged to code their robots to compete in an obstacle course in the Dash training center. Students controlled the robots to move around the training facility and perform different tasks. In another station, they went head-to-head in a soccer game, attempting to maneuver the robot to move the ball down the field and score a goal.
